When eagle-i was first founded, we recognized that barriers to sharing resources are many and incentives to do so few. In order to encourage, reward and acknowledge researchers who provided their resources to others in eagle-i, we decided to create a citation identifier for resources at the record level. A small citation widget makes the citation easy to use and easy to remember, as well as presents the URI (eagle-i’s choice for a PID) of the resource. This URI is durable and accurate, even after the resource is withdrawn and no longer available.
To compliment the widget, we created a page of sample citations the user can access right from the widget. We hope that this makes citing a resource easier and less stressful for researchers and promotes resource sharing, re-use, and attribution.
